Eleven O'Clock

They walked up-and-down in

All smiles and living-ness

Never mind the echoes there

That float and tumbled in the air

Or the cast-off wristwatches glazed with old sweat

Sideways sitting on endtables and bureaus

Amid still steeping cups of tea

Waiting to be microwaved

But the sleep hour came and killed all the children

Only one of them is left.

This one reminds me of my grade-school principal. I thought he was creepy at first, but he was just kind of weird. He was very kind to all the students. As the Dorkness says, never assume. :)

The second to last line is kinda freaky..... Otherwise I like the first four lines.. then the poem gets a bit more direct to objects if ya know what i'm saying. first four lines are more deep and general
